The first National Rural Youth Assembly occurred in Santa Fe, N.M., April 22-25, 2010, at the Institute of American Indian Arts.

  • The National Rural Youth Assembly was a gathering of 53 youth from rural communities in 28 states. For three days, this diverse group of young people, ages 18-25, discussed the future of their rural homes and what they have in common with rural communities in other parts of the United States. Participants discussed the advantages and challenges of making a life in rural communities, and how public policy cancreate more opportunity for all of us.

In cooperation with the software's developer, Feral Arts, youth participants created digital postcards, videos, and reflections on rural issues.
